On-line and In-office registration has started for the Recreation Summer Camps- Waveny Camp; Pee Wee Camp; Tiny Tot Camp. (This is not a lottery) The Recreation website has 2018 updated information including dates, age requirements and fees.

INTRODUCTORY LEVEL FAMILY FISHING COURSE
Thursday, April 19, Lapham Community Center
6:30-8:30 pm Free
A Connecticut State Energy & Environmental Protection presented course covering the basics of fish and fishing. Designed for families and kids ages 8 and up (children must be accompanied by an adult). You will learn about fishing tackle, how to cast, knot tying, safety, regulation and how to identify your catch. Instruction and materials are offered FREE OF CHARGE. This class has an enrollment cutoff and telephone pre-registration is required by calling the Recreation Department Office during business hours. 
 
CHILDREN'S FISHING DERBY- GEORGE COGSWELL MEMORIAL 2018
Saturday, April 21, Mill Pond
9:00-11:00 (8:30 registration) Free, New Canaan residents only. 
A secret stocking of the pond for children ages 15 and younger (ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult). Special prizes awarded to children.
 
RED CROSS BABYSITTING CERTIFICATION CLASS Ages 11-15....Optional Link

Start Smart Soccer (Pre-K)...Optional Link
Parent required.  Indoor program at the High School gym on Saturday mornings where parents instruct your own children following a lead instructor.  Children must be age 4 before May 20 to attend. Participant will receive a t-shirt, 2 balls, shin guards and cones. Starts April 21 for 5-weeks.
 
Start Baseball Soccer (Pre-K)...Optional Link
Parent required.  Indoor program at the East School gym on Saturday mornings where parents instruct your own children following a lead instructor.  Children must be age 4 before May 20 to attend. Participant will receive a t-shirt, baseball glove, bat, and ball. Starts April 21 for 5-weeks. 
 
Start Golf Soccer (Pre-K)...Optional Link
Parent required.  Indoor program at the East School gym on Saturday mornings where parents instruct your own children following a lead instructor.  Children must be ages 5-7 and all equipment will be provided at the gym. Starts April 21 for 5-weeks. 
 
Golf Instruction.....Optional Link
Ages 8-17 learn the basics to get you on the golf course this spring. Saturday mornings at Waveny Park, beginner or intermediate players learn the cycle of grip-mini swing- full swing. First class begins April 21.
 
Girl's Flag Football... Grades 3-6....Optional Link
Girls only, Wednesday afternoons at Waveny. You will learn the rules and skills of flag football and play games each day. This is a 6-week program and starts April 4. 
Spring for ADULTS
Adult Paddle Social- Friday Night... Optional Link
 
Dog Obedience Class... Optional Link
Good Citizen Dog Training will return for a 7-week course for Puppy Kindergarten or Beginner levels.  Tuesday afternoon classes will begin April 17.
 
Golf Instruction... Optional Link
Saturday 12:00 noon adult instruction at Waveny Park for you to learn the golf swing or tune up your technique. First class starts April 21. We will also have a Wednesdaymorning class 9:00-10:00 or 10:00-11:00 am beginning April 25. 
 
Spring Adult Tennis Instruction... Optional Link
Held at the Mead Tennis Courts or indoors on rainy days at the Racket Club. NCRC professional instructors will provide instructional classes for all levels. Check the optional link above to see session dates, times, and fees. Restricted registration.
 
Men's Softball League
Scheduled to begin April 23 with games on weekday nights at Waveny Park. Individual players not associated with a team who wish to play in the league should contact Bill Kapp bill.kapp@newcanaanct.gov to be placed on a team
