New Canaan Superintendent of Schools Awarded National Superintendent Certification

Dr. Bryan Luizzi, New Canaan Superintendent of Schools, Awarded National Superintendent Certification
from American Association of School Administrators (AASA)

New Canaan Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bryan Luizzi (pictured) joined school superintendents from around the country in being recognized by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) for successfully completing the National Superintendent Certification Program®, administered by the AASA. The recognition ceremony took place earlier this year in Nashville, Tenn., as part of the AASA’s National Conference.

The National Superintendent Certification Program® is spread over 18 months and includes forums, seminars and experiences that provides opportunities for school superintendents to define and examine issues that surface in real-life situations. Each participant is required to complete a Capstone Project that addresses a current leadership issue, challenge, or opportunity in their district. Dr. Luizzi concentrated on School Climate and based his project on the work the district has been doing with positive psychology and emotional intelligence.

“I was honored to have been accepted into the AASA’s national certificate program and enjoyed working with and learning from my colleagues throughout the country,” commented Dr. Luizzi. “Exploring school climate through the lens of my Capstone Project afforded me an opportunity to study strategies that support respect, ethical behavior, and responsible global citizenship throughout the entire New Canaan School community.”

The AASA’s National Superintendent Certification Program® is a collaborative effort with AASA state affiliates, the National School Boards Association, and business and corporate leaders. The master teachers and guest instructors have all been sitting superintendents and have demonstrable track records of success.

AASA is The School Superintendents Association, the professional organization for more than 13,000 educational leaders in the United States and throughout the world. Founded in 1865, AASA has a mission to support and develop effective school system leaders who are dedicated to the highest quality public education for all children. Visit: AASA.org
