Yale Science Diplomats at New Canaan Library "The Complexities of Cancer”

New Canaan Library welcomes back the Yale Science Diplomats, this time presenting a talk on medicine’s new focus on fighting cancers with a more targeted, personalized approach. The talk will be held on Wednesday, February 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

As information regarding our own individual health and genetic makeup grows medicine is moving towards a more personalized approach to fighting disease. In this talk, the Yale Science Diplomats will discuss how medical advances have increased the understanding of individual genetic make ups and the cancers that afflict us. They will describe innovative technologies that enable patients and scientists to understand how genetic makeup can be used to predict cancer, as well as cutting-edge therapies that make use of this newfound knowledge.

Yale Science Diplomats are a group of graduate students and postdoctoral individuals passionate about science communication, education, and advocacy. YSD began in 2007, when a group of graduate students founded a "Scientists and Engineers of America" (SEA) chapter at Yale, that has since become the Yale Science Diplomats.
