This evening, Friday, October 2nd , New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided the community with a COVID-19 update, reporting that they Town has had nine new positive COVID-19 test results for New Canaan residents since the outcall last Friday. Three of the cases are college-age individuals currently residing out of state at school. The other six cases are of varying ages but unrelated except one case of a family member who tested positive in the prior two weeks.
Moynihan said, "Therefore, while the virus is present in our community we are not seeing community transmission at our schools, and we must remain vigilant in protecting our students and faculty in order to keep our schools open."
