New Canaan Hurricane Henri Update

New Canaan Emergency Management Director Russ Kimes Hurricane Henri update at 9:30AM on Sunday, August 22

Hurricane Henri remains on course to make landfall on Eastern Long Island and Eastern Connecticut later this morning. It is expected to bring very gusty winds and heavy rain to our area later today.

We encourage residents to stay off the roads. During periods of high winds and rain it is extremely dangerous due to falling trees and flooding.

The Emergency Operations Center hotline is available to receive non-emergency calls at 203-594-4100. If you have an emergency call 911. Do not call New Canaan Police Department’s home number.

We remind you to not approach or walk over downed power lines. You should treat any downed wire as being live and energized. Also, do not drive through standing water.

Report power outages to Eversource at 800-286-2000.

Stay safe, New Canaan.
