Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT What Hat Are You Wearing?!

Four questions with Liz Barron, co-author, What Hat Are You Wearing?

Why did you start your business?

We wrote a children’s book to help kids struggling with anxiety. The invaluable strategy taught in our book can help children notice their current mindset, develop ways to select and redirect how they want to feel, and prompt conversations about their inner struggles with parents, caregivers, and educators through relatable language.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our book is sold at numerous local bookstores and at area school author visits.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We sell our book at local bookstores throughout Fairfield County, two of our favorites are Elm Street Books and Athena Books in Greenwich.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We hope to expand our book’s reach and possibly write a second book in the future.
