Darien YMCA Gymnasts Sweep at Snowflake Invite

The Darien YMCA gymnastics team completed a triple sweep at the recent Snowflake Invitational in Wilton. The gymnasts captured every team title from Level 3-9, and the Level 3 and 5 gymnasts swept the All-Around (AA) titles for every age group. When the snowflakes settled, a total of 18 Darien gymnasts placed first AA for their age group and Level. 

Taylor Davies kicked off the Level 3 AA sweep in the 6-8 age group and also won beam and floor. The vault and bars results were a tangle of ties between teammates. On vault Jacquelyn Coppola and Kate Whitticom tied for first; Courtney Timmeny took second; Eve Calio was fourth; Davies tied Violet Peroni and Penelope Hahn for fifth; and Anna Rogers and Helli Jalakas were sixth. On bars, Calio was the champ with 9.1 followed by Peroni and Rogers tied for second; Timmeny earned third; Davies and Coppola tied for fourth; Hahn was fifth and Whitticom sixth. Timmeny was also sixth on floor and second on beam and AA.  Coppola tied Anna Rogers for fifth on bars and was third on floor and AA.  Rogers also earned sixth AA.  Calio was also fifth on floor and fourth on beam and AA.  Hahn was third on beam, second on floor and fifth AA. Peroni was also sixth on beam. 

Avery Hanson scored four out of five titles in the 9s group, placing first on vault, floor, bars and AA with 37.10 and fifth on beam. Lily Royce Was fourth on vault and floor, fifth on bars and eighth AA. Hannah Reyna earned sixth on bars, eighth on beam and seventh on floor and vault where Sylvia Mickels placed sixth. 

In the 10a group, Tatum Jaroch took first on floor, AA and beam with a huge 9.65, placed third on bars and tied Tanner Shanley for sixth on vault. Shanley was also fifth on bars and sixth on beam.  Kaia Woodman vaulted to ninth. 

Catherine Travaglini topped the podium on vault, floor and AA in the 10b group and was second on bars and beam.  Rhea Rai swung to fifth on bars and was seventh on beam. Annabel Clas vaulted to eighth and placed sixth on bars and floor. Hannah Dudek was seventh on both bars and vault where Evelin Arreguin was sixth. 

Emma Bookless was the champ on bars, floor and AA in the 11s group and was fourth on vault and third on beam. Emilia Turner took third on vault, fourth on beam and floor and eighth AA.  Brook Wallace was tops on bars, beam and AA in the 12 and up group as well as second on vault and third on floor. Olivia Rosenbaum was the champ on vault and floor and was second on bars and AA.  Meghan Canavan took third on bars and second on floor.  

Bella Koproski paced the Level 4 team champs, winning beam and AA with 37.40 in the 11s group and placing third on floor and second on vault and bars. Reilly Costello was the vault and floor champ with 9.4 and 9.65 and was third on bars, fourth on beam and second AA.  Sophia Geffner earned sixth on floor, third on beam and fourth on bars, AA and vault where she tied teammate Annelise Enters. Enters also tied Jordan Moss for eighth on floor. Ingrid Kerr vaulted to third while Megan Hayes was sixth on beam and Jahnavi Orr eighth. 

Koproski’s little sis Kayla topped the podium on floor and AA in the 8-9 group and was third on beam and second on bars and vault. Olivia Davis never wavered to win beam with 9.55 and was seventh on bars. Emily Rizzi vaulted to first and was fifth on bars, second on floor and AA and tied Tess Hennigan for fourth on beam. Hennigan was also the bars champ, third on floor and AA and seventh on vault. Emily McKee took third on vault, sixth on bars, second on beam and fourth AA and on floor where she tied with Ava Telgheder. Telgheder also earned fifth on vault and seventh AA and on beam where she tied with Molly Zengo. Zengo also vaulted to fourth. Alyana Garcia placed fifth on beam and sixth on floor while Elise Hole was sixth on vault.  

In the 10s group Alex Kuras won the AA with 36.60, took second on bars, fifth on floor, tied Regan Famigletti for the beam title with 9.6 and Katie Cutler for fourth on vault. Stella Nehro topped the podium on vault and bars, placed second AA and tied Famigletti for third on floor. Famigletti was also fifth AA, sixth on bars and eighth on vault. Mina Leon took second on vault and floor and fourth on bars and AA.  Shayna Moeller earned fourth on beam and seventh on bars. Cutler was also fifth on bars and fourth on floor. Katie Primmer took third on vault while Maddy McGivney was eighth on beam. Elsa Del Bene earned her meet high score on floor. 

Chloe Sernick placed second on vault, third on bars, seventh on beam, fifth on floor and fourth AA in the 12s group. Bowen Burns earned fourth on vault and bars and tied for sixth on floor with Mia MacDonald, who was also sixth on vault. In the 13 and up group Kira McCreesh earned second on beam and fourth on vault, bars and AA while Alex Decsi was second on bars and fourth on floor.

The AA sweep in Level 5 started with Ali Kolman, who won vault and AA, placed second on bars and tied Sophie Root for third on beam. Root was also fifth on vault. Ava Licata took second on vault and beam, third AA and fifth on bars and floor. Ellie Davies was steady to win beam with 9.15 and was fourth on floor. Lindy Mueller earned her meet high score on vault. 

Sofia Imbrogno topped the podium on vault and AA in the 12-13 group and was third on bars, fourth on beam and tied for second on floor with Tanner Generoso. Generoso was also second on vault and seventh on bars and AA. Alexa Bell took fourth on bars, second on beam, third on floor and AA and tied Brianna Barrientos for fifth on vault. Barrientos swung to first on bars and was fourth on floor and sixth AA.  Carly Cambareri scored seventh on both vault and floor. Nika Sibley swept the titles in the 14 and up group, highlighted by a 9.0 on floor. 

Anna Altier paced the first place Level 6 team, taking third on bars and topping the podium in the 9-11 group in AA, vault, floor and beam, where she tied Julia Decsi. Decsi alo swung to first on bars and was second on vault, floor and AA. Lauren Smith scored second on beam and third on floor. 

In the 12-13 group, Kristie Alianiello took four out of five titles, winning vault, beam, floor and AA with a huge 37.85 and placing second on bars. Abby O’Brien was the bars champ with 9.3,  and was fourth on floor, second AA and third on vault and beam where she tied Melina Cardini. Cardini was also second on vault and tied Anna Primmer for seventh on floor. Primmer also took seventh on bars. Sommer Schmidt was steady for second on beam, third on floor and seventh AA. In the 14 and up group, Maggie Russell took third on both bars and vault.  

Sofia Iuteri paced the champion Level 7 squad, winning the AA in the 11-13 group with 37.00 and placing second on bars and beam, third on vault and fourth on floor. Natalie Solis swung to a super 9.45 to win bars and was second on vault, floor and AA. Anna Moss was rock steady to win beam with 9.4, took third on bars and AA and tied Megan Mitchell for fourth on vault. Mitchell was also third on beam and floor and fourth AA. Olivia Perkins soared to first on vault with 9.45 and was fourth on beam. 

Lana Schmidt was the floor champ with 9.6 in the 14-15 group and was second on vault, beam and AA. Lucy Collins never wavered in scoring 9.5 to win beam and was third on bars, AA and vault where she tied Emma Neaderland. Neaderland was also third on floor. In the Senior 16 group, Kaitlyn Moussignac took four titles, winning vault, beam, floor and AA and placed second on bars. Kerry McDermott swung to first on bars, took second on vault, beam and AA and was third on floor. Lily Fairleigh was second on floor and third on all other events. 

The first place Level 8 squad was led by Saskia Chermayeff, who won bars, floor and AA with 36.25 and was third on beam in the 12-13 group. Sofia DeStefano vaulted to first with 9.25 and was fourth on bars, second AA and tied for third on floor with Nadia Borja. Borja was also second on bars and beam and third AA. Sarah Cross took third on bars, second on floor and fourth on beam and AA. Tori Ware was the beam champ with 9.4 and second on vault while Leilani Nguyen was fourth on vault. 

 Kelsey Fedorko swept first place in Level 9, highlighted by a 9.5 on floor and 36.15 AA. Gianna Cardini took second on vault, bars, floor and AA and third on beam while Nikki Carlo was second on beam and third on all other events.
