New Canaan's Veterans Day Ceremony

New Canaan Honors our Veterans

The annual ceremony to honor and remember all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces will take place on Monday, November 11th at God’s Acre starting at 10:50 am.

Also during the month of November, there is a display of blue banners on the lamp posts in the downtown area which features several local veterans. This is an Eagle Scout service project titled “New Canaan Honors our Veterans”.

If you have some time, visit the Gold Star Walk in Mead Park. This memorial is in honor of the 38 New Canaan men who lost their lives while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. In 1946, a tree was planted for each man. This week, 16 new trees were planted to replace ones that have died and the Walk was rededicated. The entrance is just through the gate, on the right and the path runs along the edges of the pond.
