New Canaan Country School Lights the Night

Members of the New Canaan Country School community raised red, yellow and white lanterns at the annual Light the Night Walk, Nov. 2 at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. Dozens of students, parents, faculty and staff attended the event and raised $6,452 (far surpassing their goal of $5,000) for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

For the fifth consecutive year, Country School participated in the walk which honors blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the disease, and helped to shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

“The Walk helped students understand that by showing up and putting our energy behind a cause, we can effectuate change,” said Upper School teacher and co-Director of Service Learning Will McDonough. “We are a school that cares deeply about our students and their families that have been affected by this disease; and we are a school that seeks out opportunities to connect with the broader community to spread the messages of kindness, hope, and positivity that are so integral to the Country School experience.”

New Canaan Country School is a co-ed, independent day school for students in Pre-K (ages 3 & 4) through Grade 9. Located in New Canaan, the school serves families from around the region. For more information about the school, please visit countryschool.net.
