Why Creativity Matters made possible by LIFEWTR
What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in New Canaan?
When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.
Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work and play in New Canaan. HamletHub’s “Why Creativity Matters” showcases these awesome local experiences.
Three questions with Sheri West, 12 year New Canaan resident and Founder/CEO LiveGirl
Is there a person or organization using creativity to provoke change in New Canaan?
LiveGirl, of course! We believe that creativity is a superpower and think creatively about everything we do! We are currently getting ready for our SHE IS RISING art exhibit at the Carriage Barn May 14-24. This art exhibit will showcase over 100 artworks in every medium expressing female power. We hope to spark inspiration and thinking about the essence of female power and gender equality.
Any place in town where you go for inspiration and creativity?
I thrive in the many parks and land trust spaces preserved in New Canaan. There is nothing better than taking a walk in nature to spur inspiration and creativity. We usually go to Watson-Symington Preserve. And Oh! Grace Farms is a truly inspiring environment. [Grace Farms was established with the idea that space communicates and can inspire people to collaborate for good. It consists of 80 acres and in the center, a community gathering place called the “River” that was designed to blend into the landscape.]
Is there an organization in town that inspires you?
There are many nonprofits in town that inspire me, including the Carriage Barn which is located in Waveny Park, STAR Inc, the New Canaan Community Foundation, and the New Canaan Parent Support Group, who are passionate and working hard to make the world a better place.
