Drive-thru COVID-19 begins tomorrow at Saxe Middle School

It is 7:00 pm on March 19th and this is Emergency Management Director Mike Handler with an important update on the novel coronavirus. I want to begin by again reminding everyone to continue to thoroughly wash your hands, maintain 6-feet social distancing and avoid all group gatherings. These actions greatly reduce our chances of overloading our medical resources.

Dr. Luizzi announced that the in-school education for our public schools would not resume until April 20th at the earliest. This is an estimate and certainly subject to change as we receive more information. In the meantime, teachers and staff are doing a remarkable job with distance and e-learning. We took some additional action today to close all skincare facilities, massage therapy facilities, nail salons, barber shops, and hair salons. We continue to support and encourage curbside pickup and delivery from our local restaurants. As of today, restaurants can serve closed beer and wine curbside only.

Drive-through COVID-19 testing will begin tomorrow morning in the parking lot at Saxe Middle School. Remember, this is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and for NEW CANAAN RESIDENTS ONLY. YOU CANNOT GET TESTED WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT. The entrance will be on Farm Road. At no times will the school be unlocked or entered by anyone. You must remain in your car with the windows rolled up. You will receive specific instructions from staff. Please obey all signs and follow the instructions carefully.
