New Canaan Launches Grocery Delivery Program to Support Seniors, Mike Handler Updates Community on Coronavirus

It is 7:00 pm on March 26th and this is Mike Handler with an update on the coronavirus.  I know that many of us are growing tired of isolation and social distancing. I cannot stress enough how vital it is that we continue to protect our community. There should be no social gathering, period.

On Monday, we launched a grocery delivery program with volunteers shopping and delivering essentials to our seniors. To our seniors, please understand that this was not done to take away your freedom, it was done because we greatly value your presence in our community and desperately want to keep you out of harms way. If you are a senior or have pre-existing medical conditions and would like support, please call (203) 594-3076.

Today’s drive-thru testing went smoothly, we greatly appreciated everyone’s cooperation. As we build up a backlog of new requests for testing, we will schedule another New Canaan test date. Should you develop symptoms, please register to be tested at www.coronatestct.com. Additional testing is also available, by appointment only, at Norwalk, Stamford and Greenwich Hospitals. To obtain an appointment at any of these sites, you will need a prescription from your personal physician.

Please remember that we still have a long way to go.
