Why Community Matters in New Canaan: Find Out How Nick Caruso is Finding Inspiration and Connectivity

Why Community Matters

Local creativity is overflowing in communities as moms, dads, small business owners, nonprofit leaders and volunteers are finding new ways to communicate in this new world of social isolation. Their coping strategies and ingenuity are beyond inspiring!

We are proud to introduce you to these innovators in “Why CommunityMatters”, a series made possible by LIFEWTR.

Meet Nick Caruso, owner of the A&N Plumbing & Heating

Do you know of any local businesses or nonprofits innovating to serve communities during this difficult time? How?

We are so grateful to live in a small town, where the sense of community is overwhelming! So many acts of kindness have taken place from everyone’s generosity - whether it's donating to food banks, grocery shopping for the elderly, free virtual services (i.e. tutoring, etc.), buying gift cards from local retailers and restaurants to show them our support, and even sourcing and making face masks and other supplies for our heroes on the front line! Our own 13-year old daughter has put her sewing skills to use and joined the local and nationwide effort of sewing face masks to donate to hospitals!

With the new norm of practicing social distancing, how are you finding creative ways to connect with family and friends?

Virtual is indeed the new reality! Like so many, we've been connecting with family and friends via FaceTime and Zoom. We are so fortunate that we live in a day where these platforms already exist and we can leverage them at a time like this!

If you are a parent, have you found creative ways to engage kids at home?

The silver lining is that social distancing has led to even more family time. With sports and activities being canceled, and the hustle and bustle of always rushing around are suspended - it allows us the opportunity to really slow down and spend more quality time together. We have been getting outdoors as much as possible - going on family bike rides and walks, basketball games and football throws, and even some yard work and car washes!

A & N Plumbing and Heating LLC wishes everyone good health as we get through this together.
