Let's Keep New Canaan Vibrant! Support Our Local Businesses!

The New Canaan Tourism and Economic Development Committee (TEDAC) would like to remind everybody that while we protect our families in the midst of this war on COVID-19, it is critical to help our business community survive and thrive while we protect our families.

Retailers and Food Service establishments are the mainstay of our downtown. They are the first people we turn to when asking for support for an event or an auction for our non-profits. Many of these establishments have been an integral part of our lives.

The COVID-19 crisis and limits on social gathering are having an outsized impact on the long-term viability of these businesses but they are fighting hard to stay alive. Many have banded together to provide food to our first-responders and other emergency front-line volunteers during this uncertain time. Some are providing curbside service or home delivery and others can still do business online or over the telephone. They are all taking safety precautions set up by local authority and have altered their hours of operation in some cases.

To help keep our village vibrant during these times, we urge every household in town that can to please support our community businesses. We suggest that you continue to dine out as often as you have in the past –– albeit by curbside pick-up or at-home delivery. Have your groceries and other household needs delivered. Think of a retailer that you support and call them to purchase an item or a gift card. Check out local businesses here

We understand that people are anxious about engaging with the world outside their home at this time but there are safety guidelines that we can follow. Please check for Mike Handler’s updates and safety guidelines at the New Canaan Office of Emergency Management: https://www.newcanaan.info/alert_detail.php

Please stay safe and healthy. New Canaan, we are better together.
