Why Community Matters in New Canaan: Find Out How Diane Nickelberg is Staying Connected and Inspired

Why Community Matters

Local creativity is overflowing in communities as moms, dads, small business owners, nonprofit leaders and volunteers are finding new ways to communicate in this new world of social isolation. Their coping strategies and ingenuity are beyond inspiring!

We are proud to introduce you to these innovators in “Why CommunityMatters”, a series made possible by LIFEWTR.

Meet Diane L. Nickelberg, owner of the Grounded Meditation

Do you know of any local businesses or nonprofits innovating to serve communities during this difficult time? How?

We owe so much to our local food service businesses that are accommodating with curbside pickup and delivery. Through my local 'next-door New Canaan' chat forum, I see many neighbors selflessly offering their time and services to help deliver food, groceries, etc. To those who can't manage for themselves; it's really touching. Of course, our local medical community is a constant source of inspiration. Grounded meditation is offering free sound bath meditations twice a week- Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 pm. On Facebook Livestream - a really nice, simple way to relax and unwind.

If you are a parent, have you found creative ways to engage kids at home?

I enjoyed a zoom tea party with my granddaughter! I even arranged a setting for her with her name on a place-card! The other 'guests' were a group of my dog's stuffed toys!

Can you tell us if you or any of your colleagues are doing creative things at home to find joy and inspiration?

I’ve been creating content and meditations that I can share with the grounded community. For now, for use virtually, and when our physical location re-opens, for in-person sessions.  I’ve been playing sound bowls and sound healing instruments and taking the time to learn more about the process so I can share this with our community.

Community matters - now more than ever. We are thankful to LIFEWTR for helping us to connect and stay strong.
