Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?
I look to nature, books and my friends and family! This year has been a great year for lots of walks! Waveny and Irwin Parks have been inspiring and rally points for creativity. Painted rocks at the entrance of Waveny showed support for fellow mom Jennifer Dulos and more recently inspirational gratitude notes about 2020 have been encouraged at Irwin Park. It is the little details that make this small town such a unique and special place to call home.
Tell us about an organization in your town that makes you feel good
New Canaan Moms Group is a group of about 3,000 local moms that share ideas, recommendations and participate in numerous activities to improve the community. It is a supportive environment where members are always willing to spring to action to assist others. New Canaan Moms Community Collective Fund has given thousands of dollars to our town Human Services department, we made a grant for the ABC house, supported the food waste recycling program, and donated to the NCHS scholarship fund among other activities to support the town. I am always excited about what new ideas will come from fellow group members.
What do you love about your community?
I love the community pride and spirit of our community. There is no shortage of creative ways to spread joy and show support for our neighbors. We are all going through such a surreal time period, and I am grateful to have amazing schools, a vibrant downtown and so many passionate, smart, creative and compassionate community members. New Canaanites are always looking for ways to help others and improve the community and also ways to have fun and stay active!
