Creativity Connects New Canaan: Meet Anne Hutcheson, Local Artisan, Community Supporter

Creativity Connects New Canaan

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in New Canaan?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in New Canaan?

Creativity connects us.

Meet Anne M Hutcheson, President of New Canaan Artisans

Tell us about an organization in your town that makes you feel good

When I think of an organization that contributes a lot to New Canaan's spirit, I think of the New Canaan Artisans. New Canaan Artisans is a non-profit that consists of a number of New Canaanites who get together to use their crafting skills to raise money for important charities in Fairfield County. Each year, New Canaan Artisans has two sales, where the artisans sell seasonal craftworks. The Artisans also have booths at our local Farmer's Market.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

As President of the New Canaan Artisans, I look for creativity in our members. We look for ideas in different places: talking to each other, visiting local stores, and on the Internet. One good source for ideas is creativebug, a website promoted by the New Canaan Library. It showcases artisans with interesting ideas.

What do you love about your community?

I love New Canaan's small-town feel and friendly atmosphere. It's a great place to raise a family and offers a lot of opportunities for its residents!
