Creativity Connects New Canaan
What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in New Canaan?
When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in New Canaan?
Creativity connects us.
Meet Indira Desai Christie, founder of Ripa Wear, realtor, board member of New Canaan Chamber of Commerce.
Is there a place in town that makes you feel good?
The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce where I am a Board member. The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce is an organization dedicated to supporting, enhancing the welfare of the community, whether it be a small local business, large companies, or not-for-profit organizations. By doing so, the Chamber ensures the vibrancy of our town.
Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?
New Canaan is a town rich in art, architecture and culture. Just take a walk downtown and step into the galleries or visit the Silvermine or Waveny Art Center. Homes and buildings are another source of inspiration. Whether it be classic colonials, moderns, or mid-century-all can be found in New Canaan. Take a tour of the Phillip Johnson estate and see the results of world-class creativity. Finally, I often jump-start my creative juices by drawing from nature - going for a run through Waveny Park or walk through the numerous nature trails we have.
What do you love about your community?
The community is diverse yet tight-knit. The community shares a fundamental love for the town and its people. The beautiful town center is a gathering place. I love the New Canaan town traditions and annual events that bring us all together. When someone in the community is in need, it's wonderful to see how New Canaan-ites are quick to support them.
