New Canaan Health Department Moderna Vaccine Clinic on April 8 for Residents 18 and Older

This morning, Thursday April 1st First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided a COVID update reminding residents that today begins the scheduling of residents age 16 and over to register for vaccination appointments in Connecticut.

Moynihan said that New Canaan Health Department will be holding a Moderna vaccination clinic next Thursday, April 8th at the Lapham Community Center for New Canaan residents only over the age of 18. (Please note that the Moderna vaccine has not been approved by the FDA for those under the age of 18; residents age 16 and 17 should seek vaccination clinics with the Pfizer vaccine).

The Sign Up Genius link to register for this April 8th Moderna clinic at Lapham is here.

If you receive an appointment on Sign Up Genius, you must bring with you 2 sets of completed VAMS forms. The VAMS forms can be found on the Sign Up Genius registration and also on the Town of New Canaan website (www.newcanaan.info) at the red COVID alert box.

The Health Department will continue holding weekly clinics at Lapham during the month of April.  Sign Up Genius registration links will be sent out weekly on Thursday mornings via email only through our Everbridge emergency outcall system to register for the following weekly clinic at Lapham.

As a reminder, eligible New Canaan residents may also register through the State of Connecticut VAMS system here for vaccination appointments elsewhere in Connecticut.

Besides VAMS, eligible persons may also seek appointments at one of the pharmacies on the CT Covid-19 Vaccine Pharmacy list that is posted in the red COVID-19 alert box on the town website.  (For 16 and 17 year olds who seek the Pfizer vaccine the closest area pharmacy is Walgreens in New Canaan on Pine Street which provides Pfizer.)  You can go to Walgreens’ website (www.walgreens.com) to find appointments that may be available in the area.

Eligible New Canaan residents may also register for vaccination appointments at Stamford Hospital.

For more information and to sign up directly with Stamford Hospital please visit COVID-19 Vaccination Information at Stamford Hospital’s website or call Stamford Hospital at 203-276-7300.

Finally, our Health Department reminds everyone that we should all continue to maintain social distancing, wear masks when required, wash hands frequently, and minimize the number of close contacts in order to help control the spread of COVID 19 in our community.
