New Canaan COVID Community Update: Pfizer Vaccinations for 12-15 Year Olds, Registration Information, Testing, and More

Vaccination Clinics

In tonight's outcall, New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan said that it is expected that on Wednesday, May 12th, the FDA will grant emergency use authorization to Pfizer for 12-15 year olds to be vaccinated. "Our Health Department plans to hold a Pfizer vaccination clinic this Friday, May 14th at Lapham Community Center for all ages 12 and up," he said.

For the 12-15-year-olds, a signed parental consent form is required and a parent/or guardian must be present with the child at the clinic with both sets of VAMS forms completed for the child. Those aged 16-17 must have a signed parental consent form and the VAMS forms but do not have to have a parent/or guardian present. Ages 18 and up only need to bring both sets of VAMS forms.

The SignUpGenius link for registration to this clinic on May 14th at Lapham is here.

Moynihan said that all 840 slots are currently filled but you can monitor for cancellations and open slots. (See link here for the May 19th Pfizer clinic at New Canaan High School). Please remember to bring both sets of VAMS forms and signed parental consent form (if applicable) which are linked to the SignUpGenius registration and also found in the red COVID box on town website at www.newcanaan.info

Moynihan reports that there will be an additional Pfizer clinic for those aged 12 and over on Wednesday, May 19th at New Canaan High School. This clinic will be a mix of second dose (already scheduled on the white vaccination card, so no need to sign up for a slot) and new first doses. The SignUpGenius link for this clinic for 800 first dose appointments is here. (Please note this clinic will be held at the High School and not Lapham Center). Also please bring all required VAMS forms for this clinic.

If you are scheduled for a 2nd dose Moderna vaccination appointment this Thursday, May 13th, at Lapham Center, our Health Department reminds you to bring your white vaccination card to your 2nd dose appointments so they can add the 2nd dose vaccination information to your card. Also, please come at your scheduled appointment time.

If you are homebound (physically or medically unable to get to a vaccination site) and would like a vaccination at home, please contact the New Canaan Health Department at 203-594-3020 to schedule a homebound vaccination with the public health nurse.

Finally, Moynihan said that our Health Department is expanding on-site mobile vaccinations to any New Canaan business that has employees still in need of vaccinations and wanting to be vaccinated. The vaccination is completely free, but business owners/managers must schedule the on-site vaccinations with the Health Department by calling 203-594-3020. This also includes local contractors with construction sites in New Canaan. The Health Department will provide Moderna or Janssen (J&J) vaccines for the on-site vaccinations so employees must be aged 18 and over to meet the FDA approval guidelines.

 COVID-19 COMMUNITY TESTING

COVID-19 community testing with Waveny LifeCare will continue at Lapham Center with two days of testing this week and next. Testing will now be on Tuesdays and Thursdays only due to decreased demand.  The SignUpGenius link to sign up for this week's Thursday (May 13th) and next Tuesday (May 18th) testing dates is here
