Jean Jacobs Gallery to Present Assemblages, Collages, Paintings and Photographs by Hans Neleman

Beauty is Truth: Hans Neleman On View October 16 - November 30, 2021

Jean Jacobs Gallery is pleased to present Beauty is Truth: Hans Neleman opening on Saturday, October 16, 2021.

Hans Neleman, a Dutch-born New Canaan-based artist, photographer and creative director, with a career spanning over 30 years, is a poetic storyteller who astutely alters the way we view people, cultures, practices and objects.

Curated by Eleanor Flatow, Beauty is Truth includes thought-provoking assemblages, collages, paintings and photographs grounded in the majesty of transformations and the harmony of contradictions while permeated by sensual and mysterious undertones and references to the past.

Neleman’s oeuvre blends abstraction and figuration, explores poetic associations between found objects and photographic imagery, blurs the lines of the past and present, and celebrates the beauty of imperfections and sensuality of the human body. Neleman’s sentiments are further articulated in the title taken from the last line in John Keats’ poem, Ode on a Grecian Urn.

The show will also include large photographic prints by NELEMAN + SEBASTIAN, a collaboration with artist/photographer Peter Sebastian from Denmark. The exhibition will be on view through November 30th with an opening reception on Saturday, October 16th, 6 - 9 PM.
