NCHS Rams Varsity Boys Soccer Head to FCIAC Playoffs - First Time in 5 Years!

NCHS Rams Varsity Boys Soccer Qualify for CT STATE (CIAC) and Defeat Westhill Vikings 2-1 Securing FCIAC Playoff Spot for the first time in over 5 years.

On a soggy Monday afternoon, the NCHS Rams Varsity Boys Soccer team, led by Head Coach Luke Green and Assistant Coach Jack Knight, faced the Westhill Vikings and won 2-1 securing a spot in the FCIAC playoffs. The Rams improved to a 9-7 finish overall which was also enough to qualify for the CT State (CIAC) playoff tournament, the first time in over 5 years.

The team was able to bounce back from an early penalty kick in the first half, scoring late in the first to make the game level at halftime. Shortly before the halftime whistle, the Rams hit back to make it 1-1, a precise free kick from Momath Seck was whipped into the area and finished from an attacking Irving Dorman. The Rams then pressed on in the second half and produced a coolly taken winning goal from Dorman, McLaughlin with the assist.

New Canaan won thanks to organized defensive play by Aidan McLaughlin, Irving Dorman, Jeronimo Marsili, Nathan Sieckhaus and Luke Urgo; powerful offense by Lorenzo Marsili, Jake Bausman and Jack Cuda. The midfield was instrumental in the second half, with huge efforts by Augusto Baldini, Mamath Seck, and Jovany Montana. Goalkeeper Josef Gashi made several important saves throughout the game including tipping the ball over the ball in the first half.  Ted Werner and Will Hayes made significant contributions off the bench.

With a 2-1 lead New Canaan prevailed in a nail-biting final five minutes with relentless attacks by the Vikings. The Rams will play the FCIACs Quarter Final on Thursday the 27th at 6:30pm at Norwalk High School.
