Why did you start your business?
In 1990, we started Goldenberry because we love lovely things & enjoy creating a fun, relaxing atmosphere for shoppers to find unique goodies & gifts.
We enjoy knowing people leave the shop happy.
Finding something wonderful or delicious to bring home, or finding a gift for a special occasion can be a challenge, and we like to make it fun.
Now, 28 years later, we still enjoy making people happy.
Moving to Wilton, we are so thrilled to continue to help customers who've shopped with us for many years, but are new to Wilton (and love discovering Wilton's charm!).
Equally, it is fabulous to meet Wiltonians who have been giving us a wonderful welcome.
Best selling product/service?
This really depends on the customer & the time of year.
If the person is a foodie and likes 'armchair' travel, Goldenberry has lots of special food treats, especially around special holidays like Christmas when we have lots of British Isles & European imported foods that remind people of their childhoods & family traditions they want to continue for the next generations of family.
How many local businesses and organizations do you support?
We have loved being part of New Canaan and supporting and being part of the wonderful events & many fundraisers in New Canaan like New Canaan Beautification, New Canaan Community Fund, and New Canaan Young Woman's League events. We wish our landlord issues didn't force us to leave and hope to find a way to again be an active part of New Canaan on a daily basis.
