Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT L'Armoire!

Three questions with Diane Roth, owner of L'Armoire.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business because I had opened four stores for other companies and thought it was time to give it a go myself before I got older and wiser and realized what the failure rate was (80%)

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could...

I wish I could thank all the people who have helped me over the last 34 years and been such great and loyal clients.

Best selling product/service?

My best selling products are unusual cashmere sweaters from Italy that no one else has in beautiful colors and patterns and pants from a German company called MAC. They make the best jeans and pants for all sizes from a zero to 16.

L'Armoire tags CD Interiors. "They are my inspiration as a great long-established New Canaan business," says Roth.
