Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Christina Saburro Photography!

Three questions with Christina Saburro, owner of Christina Saburro Photography.

Why did you start your business?

When I had my first child I became a stay at home mom but still needed a purpose and some income. I’d been shooting for fun for a while and decided to make a career of it. Photography is my passion and I’m so pleased I was able to build a business with it.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could...

I wish I could rent/own a studio with beautiful natural light. I will someday soon! For now, I go to people's homes to shoot or we shoot on location in places such as parks, and beaches. I hire local teens to assist me during shoots.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I'm the in-house photographer for the Young Women's League of New Canaan, a non-profit organization. I have gained many wonderful and much-valued ties to the people in my community, without which I would not have a business!
