Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Little's Specialty Foods (aka Little's Cuisine).
Three questions with Angela M. Colabella, owner of Little's Specialty Foods.
Why did you start your business?
My sister and I owned a chili-themed restaurant in Appleton, WI for 13 years. When we decided to close it, we packaged our flagship original chili seasoning mix and sold it locally in Wisconsin in grocery stores to our loyal customers. I moved to Connecticut in 2010. Five years ago, my husband N. Claude Colabella and I purchased the predecessor company and decided to expand the product line. The Little family has always been passionate about food. At Little’s Cuisine, we wanted to offer the consumer a healthier, bolder seasoning blend that can be used for a quick and easy meal solution. All of our products have big, bold flavors and are Non-GMO project verified, certified gluten-free, Kosher, sugar-free with no additives/ fillers and reduced sodium.
I wish I could see Little’s Cuisine become a national brand known for creative, healthy and delicious food products and supports animal rescue causes by donating a percentage of our sales.
What is your bestselling product/service?
Our flagship Original Chili Seasoning Mix. Our new line of Street Tacos will challenge the Original Chili’s status as a best seller.
