Three questions with Cordy Gould Kelly, founder of Kelly's Four Plus Granola.
Why did you start this business?
Our family was very active in competitive rowing. So when my two oldest sons, Nate and Will, asked me to make a healthy snack for their training program, I baked a heart batch of Nutty granola. The boys loved it, took it to their workouts and races, shared it with their teammates and friends - and everybody wanted to know “Where can I buy it!” That’s how I started Four Plus.
Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could…
I wish I could give a sample of our granola to everyone in the US. It is simply a better tasting, better-for-you granola that’s not too sweet and not too dry or crunchy. It’s granola the way you like it.
How many local businesses to you use to support your own business?
We use Minuteman Press for labels, Commerce Packaging for corrugated cardboard, A Cook Printing for company apparel, and A Cook’s Nook for specialty bakeware. We also sell to 5 local stores in New Canaan and Norwalk!
