COVID-19 Updates and Med Ed Program at New Canaan Library

New Canaan Library takes the health and safety of our patrons and staff very seriously and continues to actively monitor the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are working in conjunction with the New Canaan Department of Health, New Canaan Public Schools, and other town organizations to best respond to this emerging situation.

What we are doing in the Library:
  • We continue to thoroughly clean the Library each day, paying special attention to high traffic areas including all restrooms, doorknobs, hand railings, computer screens, mice, keyboards, phones, and public desk surfaces.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at all public service desks.
  • CDC flyers are posted at all public service desks and in restrooms.
  • We ask that all Library members and staff who are feeling unwell or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 (including cough, fever, sore throat) refrain from coming to the Library.
  • We encourage all community members to stay informed by visiting these websites:
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Connecticut State Department of Health
  • The state's 211 information line dedicated to the COVID-19 outbreak

At this time, we are not adjusting our hours, program calendar, or services, but we are developing staffing and service models should we decide we need to reduce services. Please check our website for the most current information on our services and schedules. We will email all registrants should a program be postponed. In addition, please hold your book donations until further notice to reduce volume for our volunteers and to help keep our floor space clear for necessary cleaning.

As always, our Digital Library is always open and is filled with wonderful offerings including eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, movies, magazines, comic books, children’s materials, language-learning opportunities, and so much more! Please feel free to contact us if you need further information or assistance.
Med Ed: Coronavirus on Wednesday, March 11 from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

We anticipate strong interest in this program with Dr. Michael F. Parry, MD, Chair of Infectious Diseases at Stamford Health Medical Group. If you are unable to attend, we will be streaming the talk via Facebook Live, and will post the talk to our Library YouTube channel on Thursday. More & register>>
