Why Small Businesses Matter Reimagined

Small businesses matter - now more than ever. They are answering the call with innovation and determination like never before.

We hope you join us in supporting them by sharing their story far and wide and shopping local! We are thankful to Fairfield County Bank for their continued support and making this series possible.

Four questions with Rebekah Jacobs, founder of Sama Yoga Center.

What do you want the community to know? Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?

First, we think about how we can best serve our community - what we can do so that you feel safe and supported.

We enhanced our ability to offer hybrid solutions, including in-studio, online, outdoor classes, and our on-demand platform to rent per class or enjoy unlimited access on your own time. Our Sama Summer Kids + Minis Program re-launches June 29, and more summer fun includes Kids Yoga Teacher Training July 18-19 and Teacher Training begins July 6, for everybody, age, and ability! We have adapted our schedule to what’s needed at the moment. True to our philosophy, yoga for every age, body, and ability, we offer a wide variety of classes. To help every practitioner to have what they need and be safe, we sell equipment such as mats and blocks for special prices - we want to make sure everyone has access to what they might need!

Are you offering any new products, or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

We have invested in the leading air filter, which destroys 99% of airborne bacteria and viruses, our facilities get sprayed before and after every class to keep everything disinfected and immaculate, we now have a dedicated entrance, touchless faucets, new fan duct and air exchange and limit class sizes to keep everyone safe. We have increased the time between classes to allow for safe and socially distanced entering and leaving the facilities.

Are there certain individuals or organizations that supported you and your business through this trying time?

We’d love for the community to show up for us as we do for you - come and join our classes, spread the word that we are here for you and open, trust that we do everything that’s asked of us, and more to keep us all safe.

We are a local business, owned and operated by neighbors - we care about you and are deeply invested in the wellbeing of our community.

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

Our students have been our biggest support - showing up, being receptive to our online offerings, sharing feedback - we are so grateful for this support! Our teachers have been so generous too, donating their time to learn new things (like setting up a camera) and providing short & sweet practices for you and our first responders.
