Why Small Businesses Matter Reimagined

Small businesses matter - now more than ever. They are answering the call with innovation and determination like never before.

We hope you join us in supporting them by sharing their story far and wide and shopping local! We are thankful to Fairfield County Bank for their continued support and making this series possible.

Rock Paper Scissors

Three questions with Kristen Mitrakis, co-founder of Rock Paper Scissors.

Are you offering any new products, or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

At the beginning of the lockdown period, we quickly switched over to a virtual event format. It’s been very successful and we’ve stayed quite busy with corporate team building events, general trivia games, and our highly personalized birthday trivia games.

For summer, we’ve just announced a free weekly trivia game for kids every Friday at 4 pm. These games will be suitable for ages 6-12 years and will be a short, fun afternoon activity for any kids who’d like to play! To be notified with login information, parents should join our “Rock Paper Scissors Custom Event Trivia” private Facebook group. For safety reasons, passwords change for every game and are posted one hour before game time.

Are there certain individuals or organizations that supported you and your business through this trying time?

LiveGirl has connected us with a stellar virtual intern through their internship program called SHE WORKS. Maria is a rising sophomore at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke majoring in Criminal Justice with an eye towards a law degree. She has amazing plans for her life and we are fortunate to have her helping us. We just had our first Zoom meeting with her and can’t wait to get her started!

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

We miss in-person parties so we’re exploring how to re-enter that world while keeping everyone healthy: incorporating things like outdoor activities that don’t require close proximity of guests and fun customized party masks — we’ve even kicked around the idea of a “lifeguard” at kids parties to gently remind everyone to stay safe! Fun is an essential element in everyone’s lives and we’re excited to get people together again while remaining mindful of health concerns.
