Why Small Businesses Matter Reimagined

Small businesses matter - now more than ever. They are answering the call with innovation and determination like never before.

We hope you join us in supporting them by sharing their story far and wide and shopping local! We are thankful to Fairfield County Bank for their continued support and making this series possible.

Four questions with Nicholas “Claude” Colabella, founder of Little’s Specialty Foods.

What do you want the community to know? Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?

The New Canaan community has always been so supportive purchasing our Little’s Cuisine seasoning mixes and blends which are featured at Walter Stewart’s Market. With the pandemic, more and more families are looking for quick, healthy meal solutions and they are cooking at home using our Original and Spicy Chili mixes, Street Taco mixes and Sloppy Joe mix. Little’s Cuisine participated in recent food drives with The New Canaan Library and Neighbor to Neighbor in an effort to address the increased demand for food due to the coronavirus pandemic

Are you offering any new products, or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

Little’s Cuisine products are sold on our website store (www.littlescuisine.com) and Amazon. We also participated in a program with the FoodNBevCT (www.foodnbevct.com) to offer our products to employees of Connecticut corporation at a discount.

Are there certain individuals or organizations that supported you and your business through this trying time?

Walter Stewart’s Market, Palmer’s Market, and the Fairfield County-based ShopRite / Grade A Markets stores. Gary Breitbart, the Executive Director of the FoodNBevCT, a food, and beverage focused incubator/accelerator that is a community of emerging clean ingredient and nutritious packaged product brands and a network of functional advisors that are all looking to promote growth and expansion.

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

Little’s Cuisine has been filling stores with more products in order to reduce the number of visits and physical contact with shoppers. In addition, we have increased our online shopping options.

Little’s Specialty Foods is located at 49 Locust Avenue in New Canaan. Visit Little’s Specialty Foods online here.
