Why Small Businesses Matter Reimagined

Small businesses matter - now more than ever. They are answering the call with innovation and determination like never before.

We hope you join us in supporting them by sharing their story far and wide and shopping local! We are thankful to Fairfield County Bank for their continued support and making this series possible.

Step inside South End!

Four questions with Nick Martschenko, founder of South End Restaurant Group.

What do you want the community to know? Are there ways for the community to help you and other local businesses to prosper?

Our entire team at South End and Uncorked restaurants want the New Canaan community to know we are resilient in our goal to continue providing the highest quality experience - encompassing atmosphere, service, and food. We strive to create an oasis where our customers can relax, enjoy, and forget the issues of the world…… even for a few hours. We are so grateful that the community has offered tremendous support helping us survive this pandemic. The best way to continue helping local businesses is to stay local. Continue to dine, shop, & play in New Canaan!

Are you offering any new products, or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

These unprecedented times call for unprecedented responses. This has allowed our creativity at both restaurants to flourish and meet our customer’s new needs. For instance, at South End, some of our contemporary offerings include Food for Families for those who want our products in their homes - to a range of prepared meals and "DIY” kits containing quick easy-to-follow recipes to make our signature food and cocktails. We have also expanded our spacious outdoor areas to allow for safe on-premise dining. Our seamless online ordering, touchless payment systems, pay by phone and electronic gift cards make it easy to enjoy our services in any way that works best for you and your family.

Are there certain individuals or organizations that supported you and your business through this trying time?

Although many supporters have stepped forward to help us navigate these difficult times, there are a few that deserve special attention. Tucker Murphy has taken extraordinary steps to provide our businesses with all means possible. The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce and the New Canaan Health Department have been an excellent resource of information. Finally, we would love to recognize all of our customers who donated financially to help us support our staff.

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

The safety of our staff and customers have always come first! We have taken extra steps to ensure their safety, follow state & town regulations. Sanitizing stations have been created in all locations. Masks, gloves, temperature taking, staggering schedules & staff reductions are a new part of our operations. We have designed spacious patios, extending our outdoor dining facilities making sure our guests have plenty of distance to dine safely and comfortably. For those who do not wish to dine out, our full South End menu is available for taking out and delivery.

South End is located at South End 36 Pine Street in New Canaan, and their another restaurant - South End UNCORKED is located at 15 Elm Street in New Canaan. Visit the South End website here, and also make sure to check out South End UNCORKED website here.
