Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Master Travel!
Four questions with Michelle Orr, CEO and Luxury Travel Advisor at Master Travel.
Why did you start your business?
Being a luxury travel advisor marries two of my passions: my love for travel and my love for making people happy! My mom has been in the business for over 30 years and encouraged me to start my career!
What is your best-selling product/service?
I offer luxury travel design with concierge-level service. Your free time is your most important asset and I save my clients time, worry, and give them peace of mind when they travel!
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
I often send out thank you gifts to clients before they depart, and one of my favorite gifts is the luggage tags from Lolo Bags in New Canaan owed by Jennifer Maclear.
Have you “reimagined” your small business?
100% yes! I started my business in 2018 and I have brought a level of service to the “travel agent” career that many have not done before. I am much more than a travel agent who books what you may have already researched.
And since Covid, which devastated the travel community, I have pivoted and focused on keeping my clients informed about all the travel rules and how the travel landscape has changed. I traveled 7+ times since the pandemic so I could get out there and share what it’s really like from the first-hand experience.
