Carriage Barn Arts Center adds new staff, programs and exhibits

45th Annual Member Show Now Open Through October 9

The Carriage Barn Arts Center, New Canaan’s non-profit arts organization and gallery located in Waveny Park, is continuing to expand with new programs, exhibits and event offerings.

Hilary Wittmann, Executive Director since 2016, announced the addition of two new staff members — Kristin Peterson Edwards as Director of Special Projects and Janet Dinger as Events and Programs Manager. Jennifer Hladick continues in her role as Exhibitions & Gallery Manager.

“CBAC has gained substantial  momentum over the past few years and we’re seeing an increased desire for educational programs, arts enrichment, and live entertainment.  With the recent renovation and expansion of our facility, The Carriage Barn Arts Center is now poised to offer more to our members and the community.   Now that we have a team in place to help make it happen!"

Rich Companik, Board President, is confident that "The Carriage Barn Arts Center will become the destination for Arts and Entertainment in greater Fairfield County under the inspiring direction of Hilary and her team.  The entire board of directors is beyond thrilled to be part of the next phase of the organization.”

As Director of Special Projects, Kristin will develop programs and initiatives to expand and further engage the organization's members and supporters.  A post-war and contemporary art expert with over two decades of experience in the international art world, she will also help develop exhibit-related programming. She has been the principal of kpeArts advisory since 2007 and has held leadership roles with numerous community and arts organizations including the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, the Darien Foundation, Darien EMS Post 53 and the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University.  Her early career includes roles at Cheim + Read and Robert Miller Gallery in New York City.

Janet Dinger, Events & Programs Manager will build a robust schedule of events, programs and partnerships to educate and engage the community.  Janet previously worked as a freelance PR and event planner helping organize the Carriage Barn's Art in the Windows and Deck the Walls exhibits.  Janet has worked for major media and advertising agencies leading sponsorship and event teams for a wide range of clients.  A voice actor, she also runs Streatfeild Voice, delivering commercials, audio books and corporate videos for clients.

This fall the Carriage Barn kicks-off their 45th anniversary celebration with the Annual Member Show (open through October 9).  Other 2022 exhibits include Art, Design & The Automobile in partnership with Caffeine & Carburetors and The Glass House; "Capturing New Canaan" plein-air event and exhibit; and the annual Deck The Walls small works exhibit and wreath auction event.  More details can be found at carriagebarn.org.

The Carriage Barn Arts Center was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 1977 by a passionate group of local artists and arts patrons, and the organization has operated the historic facility in Waveny Park for the last 45 years.  Membership is open to anyone interested in learning about, supporting and being involved with the arts.  The gallery is open to the public Wednesday-Saturday 10am-3pm and Sundays 1-5pm.
