Horizons at NCCS Board Welcomes Seven New Members

The Horizons at NCCS Board of Directors are a passionate group of individuals with diverse backgrounds who are committed to ensuring the long-term success of Horizons students, their families, and the organization. The non-profit welcomed seven new board members.

Susan Barr of Darien, who has a background in elementary education and curriculum development, brings with her a passion for fundraising.

John Beauclair of New Canaan is a Senior Principal at New State Capital Partners with experience in investment banking and is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and the Connecticut Yankee Council.

Wendy Gerbier of Stamford is the Director of Learning Centers for the Norwalk Housing Authority, as well as a certified parent educator, and a classical singer.

Elizabeth Guillen of Norwalk has joined as the Faculty Representative on the Board. Elizabeth is currently a teacher at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, a lead teacher in the Horizons summer program, a member of the Horizons school year academic support team, and an alumna of the program.

Barbara Moody of Darien has experience in account management at Saatchi & Saatchi, and is affiliated with various organizations, including Swim Across America, and the Darien Depot.

Anne Marie Schettini-Lynch is a resident of New Hyde Park, NY and the newly appointed Chief Financial and Operations Officer of New Canaan Country School.

Eve St. Surin of Norwalk is a SSBG Community Service Specialist at The Community Action Agency of Western CT. Inc. and has joined the Board as a Family Council Representative.

Horizons newly appointed Board Chair, Tiffany Van Elslander said: “I am thrilled to have these seven talented, passionate and dedicated people join a truly remarkable Board of Directors. Our commitment to our students and families is as strong as ever and I am confident that we have the best possible Board moving forward.” Van Elslander is joined by the following officers: Leigh Kennedy, Vice Chair; Michele Gartland, Secretary; and Mara Neafsey, Treasurer. “Thank you to the following departing Board members Steve Bloom, Frank Bria, Victor Catano, Adam Elgert, Rashana Graham, Brian McCormick, Donna Seymour, and Carolyn Woodberry for their years of service and continued commitment to Horizons.“ said Van Elslander.

Founded in 1964, Horizons at NCCS is the first in a nationwide network of programs that are successfully closing the opportunity gap experienced by under-resourced students. Horizons at NCCS builds deep and lasting relationships with the 400 K-post-secondary Norwalk and Stamford students it serves. The six-week Summer Program and year-round academic and enrichment programming help students imagine and achieve a brighter future for themselves.
