Reclaim and Reuse: Silvermine Art Center Introduces New Exciting Summer Art Studio Class

New Silvermine Summer Art Studio: Reclaim and Reuse: Stars and Stripes

Are you looking for a unique and eco-friendly summer camp experience for your child? Look no further! Silvermine’s is offering a NEW Summer camp about working with reclaimed wood, for ages 10-12.

In this safe and encouraging environment, led by NEW Silvermine Instructor Damien King, students will get a hands-on experience building with reclaimed wood.

What is Reclaimed Wood?

Reclaimed wood is wood that has been salvaged from old buildings, furniture, or other sources. Instead of being thrown away, this wood is given a new life by being repurposed into something new.

What Will Your Child Learn?

In this class, your child will learn to tap into their innate creativity while learning how to reduce waste and promote sustainability by giving old, unwanted wood a new life. By first deconstructing an old wooden pallet, they will then learn how to use tools safely and effectively, measure, shave, cut, join, and finish wood to repurpose old pallet into a piece of Art to treasure. While learning about the benefits of using reclaimed wood and how it helps the environment.
