Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Shop Navy Jane!
Three questions with Lauren Kopal, founder of Shop Navy Jane.
Why did you start your business?
My love for the coastal lifestyle and everything nautical started while spending summers sailing the coast of New England while growing up. It felt natural to create a brand that celebrates the sea, sailing, and coastal vibes, but is also size-inclusive and affordable.
What is your best-selling product/service?
Our lobster and anchor sweaters, lobster clutches, and bamboo handles purses are all best sellers.
Have you reimagined your small business?
We initially started solely as a plus-size preppy clothing company. We found that to be a difficult market and pivoted our company. We now focus on size-inclusive sizes and have niched into nautical sweaters and accessories.
HamletHub thanks Fairfield County Bank for making our Why Small Businesses Matter series possible!
