Last week, Sergeant Mitchell and Chief DiFederico attended the CALEA conference in Bellevue, Washington. New Canaan Police Department was awarded its 10th CALEA certification. This award will remain in effect for the next four years. Our department's previous accreditation was awarded in November 2019.
New Canaan Police Department has been nationally accredited by CALEA since 1992. CALEA Accreditation serves as the International Gold Standard for Public Safety Agencies.
The process of maintaining accreditation is a tremendous team effort, and our department is led by Accreditation Manager, Sergeant Brian Mitchell.
Sergeant Mitchell spends countless hours ensuring that our department operates within the standards set forth by CALEA. We would like to thank him for his commitment to our agency.
