The New Canaan Police Department is now participating in this program affiliated with the Autism Society’s Safe and Sound initiative.
It was created by the Pensacola Police Department as a program that brings together first responders and members of the community who may have Autism, Alzheimer’s or other special needs. It is intended for members of the community who may not be able to communicate with first responders as it assists us in identifying them and better understanding what the best method is to assist them.
Participants can be signed up for the program by family members and it is a confidential database kept by the New Canaan Police Department that will hold basic information about the person and a photo of them.
