New Canaan Police Remind Residents About Railroad Crossing Safety "Operation Clear Track"

New Canaan Police Officer Coughlin and Officer Clark handed out safety information cards at the Grove Street and Talmadge Hill railroad crossings as part of “Operation Clear Track”.

Operation Clear TrackOperation Clear Track is the single largest rail-safety law-enforcement initiative in North America. Its goal is to reduce the number of railway crossing and trespassing incidents across Canada and the U.S. – incidents which tragically injure or kill more than 2,100 people each year.

"This week is Rail Safety Week and serves as an important reminder about railroad crossing safety for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists," police say.

In a mission to spread awareness, New Canaan police handed out a total of 365 flyers.
