James W. George was appointed to the New Canaan Police Department on October 30, 1967.
He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in January of 1977 and became the department’s Youth Officer in 1992. He served as Youth Officer until July 1, 1998, when he returned to the Patrol Division.
James was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on July 1, 2000. He worked as a Shift Commander for various patrol shifts until March 2004 when he was appointed Commander of the Investigative Section. Lieutenant George remained in this role until January 1, 2006.
From 2006 to the present, Lieutenant George has been assigned to our Patrol Division as Shift Commander.
