New Fairfield residents spoke out last Tuesday at the Town Meeting where, for the second time, town voters denied the proposed Anti-Blight Ordinance. The ordinance was introduced as a means to help regulate and reduce the appearance of materials on private properties considered unsightly, burdensome or that may bring down neighboring, home values.
While several residents consider the ordinance necessary, the majority of the 110 registered voters, six property owners and 8 visitors in attendance at the meeting did not agree. A prevalent complaint was ambiguity within the regulating documents as to what is considered "blight."
