Grant for Historical House in New Fairfield Approved

A grant requested by the Historic Properties Commission of New Fairfield has been approved for the evaluation of the Historic "green" House located at 31 Route 37. The grant will pay for a professional assessment of the house to determine its age, historic value and restorability.

The house, once a creamery and later a blacksmith shop, is thought to have belonged to one of the first families to settle in New Fairfield in the 19th century. The commission is seeking to find out what they can about the house and later, if possible, have it added to the State Register of Historic Places.
