Come to Kick off and help us Cage Up Cancer!
Relay for Life is a big event every year that drives millions of people around the world to fight against cancer. We stand with those who are survivors, caregivers, and most importantly, the patients. This is a movement I have always been a part of and I hope to bring in even more people over the years.
Relay for Life is so important to me because of the big impact it has on everyone else. I relay for those who have been diagnosed and I relay for the families who are fighting along with us. I personally have lost family members to this terrible disease. Just two short years ago, my aunt died of ovarian cancer. Due to the cancer in her body, her lifespan was shortened by 20 years and we lost many opportunities to make great memories with her. Unfortunately, at the age of 17, I have already attended seven funerals, and had to comfort countless people I love. 1.7 million people get diagnosed with cancer a year in the United States alone. Furthermore it is estimated that around 610,000 people die each year from a form of cancer; included but not limited to leukemia, breast cancer, skin cancer and more. Cancer does not discriminate; it affects all ages, sizes, races, and genders. No one should ever have to hear the words “You Have Cancer”, but there is hope! By participating in Relay for Life, you are contributing to the fight that we hope will end soon.
One great way to contribute to this years Relay for Life is to attend our Kick Off event on January 22nd at the Company A Firehouse. Come for a night of raucous laughter, delicious snacks, a door prize, a game or 2 and a photo booth! Family friendly and you'll get to learn our amazing event theme for this year and ask any and all questions! Snacks and fun activities will be provided while you help fight cancer and learn more about what we do!
