Blessing of the Animals set for Oct. 9 at King Street Church

Bring your leashed and crated pets and working animals of any kind to our annual St. Francis Blessing of the Animals at King Street United Church of Christ, 201 S. King St., on Sunday, Oct. 9, at noon.

The Rev. Paul Bryant-Smith will offer blessings to you dogs, cats, turtles, fish, pigs, ducks, horses — you name it. And if your animal is uncomfortable in social settings, bring a photo to be blessed.

This annual tradition at King Street was suspended for a few years due to the pandemic. So some furry friends are overdue for blessings! A free-will offering will be taken at the event to benefit the New Fairfield-Sherman Animal Welfare shelter.
