Local cyclists, runners, mountain bikers and multi-sport athletes are coming together for a sixth season Wednesday, January 18th, 7:00pm at The Ridgefield Playhouse for the 2017 Ridgefield Bicycle Sport Club Kickoff Party.

All are welcome to the Kickoff Party to learn about the club, meet fellow sport enthusiasts and join in on the fun.  The meeting is free and open to the public interested.  Toasts to the new season will be made with food and beverages from Southwest Cafe,  The Cake Box and Ancona’s Wine & Liquor.

This social club of over 350 members actively promotes cycling, running and multi-sport through group road and mountain bike rides, group training and fun runs on road and off, indoor cycling, clinics, training sessions, races, destination rides and runs, clinics and social events.  All levels of athletes and interested parties are encouraged to participate, from elite racers to recreational enthusiasts.

“This party is a celebration of all our members and an introduction to those who may be curious to see what all the buzz is about,” says club President Jacqui Dowd.  “The Kickoff Party is an open invitation to all our local athletes and fitness enthusiasts.  The club provides a structure for folks of like-minded interests to ride, run, eat, drink and have a great time doing the sports we love.”

The not-for-profit club’s mission is to create a community of local athletes through fun, competition, advocacy, safety and etiquette, education and the pure enjoyment of cycling, running and multi-sport.

Membership is $40 and includes access to all club rides, runs, activities and social events, member directory, club clothing at club pricing, discounts and more.  “Thirsty Thursday rides, Sunday morning rides, track running workouts and mountain bike rides are club favorites.”

“Our sponsors make all of this possible,” says Dowd.  “Their generosity and support for local athletes is second to none.”  Club sponsors at the Platinum Level are Ridgefield Running Company, Neumann Real Estate, The Ridgefield Playhouse, Sarah’s Wine Bar & Catering and Fairfield County Bank.  Gold Level Sponsors are Southwest Cafe, SusiLaura Massage, The Cake Box, Ancona’s Wine, Ridgefield Physical Therapy, Tusk & Cup Coffee and Elevation Spin.
