Big Events in Sherman this Weekend!

We’re counting down the hours until Sherman’s big Memorial Day weekend events!

There may still be time for women to RSVP for the library’s spirited, sociable Women’s Soirée on Friday, May 25, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, champagne, buffet dinner, raffles, door prizes, and the company of friends and neighbors. This special event also includes a silent auction and off-the-rack items of new and like-new handbags, scarves, jewelry and sunglasses—all to be sold to benefit the library. This is a not-to-be-missed chance to wine, dine, mingle and shop. Tickets $25 in advance at the library or $30 online at www.shermanlibrary.org. For more information contact Millie Loeb at 860-354-2455 or mloeb@biblio.org The Library is at 1 Sherman Center.

All these sales must close promptly at noon because Sherman Center closes to traffic shortly afterward for the 50th Annual Memorial Day Parade at 1pm. This year’s theme will be “The Roaring ’20s.”

And while you’re making plans, consider these:

CT Open House Day at the Sherman Historical Society Northrop House Museum, Saturday June 9th noon-3pm, is the opening of the Society’s newest (and very fashionable) exhibit: “The Way You Wear Your Hat...A Collections of Hats Through the Decades.” It’s elegant and educational! The day will also feature the Opening of the Roger Sherman Learning Center with a ribbon-cutting event at 2pm.

We hope to see you for all the holiday weekend’s special events, but, most importantly, we hope that you take time to pause and remember. We enjoy our freedom because of those who fought and sacrificed all for it. Everyday—but especially on Memorial Day—let us honor all those who have served and serve today with our deepest respect, pride, and appreciation.
