NF High School charging stations open.

UPDATE: NON-POTABLE WATER SOURCE HAS BEEN RESTORED

Tonight’s concert on Memorial Field and the Boat Parade scheduled for Saturday night are cancelled and will be rescheduled.

Charging stations are open at the High School beginning at 1:00PM today. The charging stations will be open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. However, we must comply with COVID-19 guidelines, so we can only admit 25 people at one time. Masks are required. You will be asked to sign in and use hand sanitizer before you enter. Non potable water is available at the Middle School and we are working on a supply of potable water.

Due to trees and wires on the ground, the DOC will not be open today. It will reopen tomorrow, Friday August 7 and Saturday, Aug 8 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 for household waste only. We will not be able to accept debris or brush at this time and we can only accept cash and checks, no credit cards. You must enter Bigelow Rd on the route 37 side only.

We have had numerous questions about the availability of showers at the High School. As part of the effort to reconfigure the schools for reopening during the pandemic, the locker rooms have been repurposed, and are not accessible.

We are working closely with Eversource to restore power in Town, however unlike the May 15 storm, this is a statewide event. There are many towns in Connecticut that have more significant damage and outages than we do here in New Fairfield. Municipalities with hospitals, nursing homes and other critical infrastructure will also be given priority. Crews from other parts of the country have begun to arrive in the State, and Eversource expects activity to increase today. Please be patient, updates will be provided as we get them.

A reminder from our FD – please locate your generator at a safe distance from your home and do not operate generators in your garage. Please do not travel on barricaded roads or under leaning trees and power lines.
