Ridgefield Playhouse Gives Kevin and Michael Bacon Keys to the Venue!

Over the weekend, The Ridgefield Playhouse welcomed The Bacon Brothers for their 15th career performance at the venue. The venue sold commemorative posters detailing the following statistics: 15 shows, 7,500 fans, 2 brothers, 1 degree. Of course the 1 degree refers to the infamous parlor game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Before the band’s encore, Playhouse Artistic Director, Jared Shahid, took the stage to acknowledge the milestone. In his remarks, he noted that “Kevin and Michael first performed here two weeks after 9/11 – back in September of 2001. Since then, they’ve returned 14 more times, each to sold-out crowds.”

While explaining how much the staff enjoys their visits, he quipped that while “some bands are difficult and very demanding, the most Kevin ever asked for was some Advil back in 2019.”

At the end of the presentation, the brothers were presented with the keys to the Ridgefield Playhouse – the first such award given in the venue’s 22-year history. Kevin Bacon then thanked the venue and crowd before launching into a 2 song encore, which ended with a rousing version of Kenny Loggins’ Footloose.

The Playhouse is in the middle of presenting 10 events in 12 days, and is sold out tonight with Genesis guitarist, Steve Hackett.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT and is committed to keeping the arts alive and available to all.
