Power Restored to the Center of Town - Crews to work through the night

The following was published on the Town of New Fairfield CT Facebook page:

Some positive news to report. Power has been restored to the center of town. We had 55 Eversource crews in town today, one National Guard crew and public works crews from Westport and Fairfield in addition to our own public works department. The crews made significant progress on Routes 39 and 37, and Shortwoods Road. Bear Mountain Road is passable. Work will continue through the night. There will be roughly 70 crews working in town tomorrow. Please be patient as the crews work to restore power - road closures will occur intermittently, and due to the number of crews working, and the extent of the damage, we are not able to notify residents of closures in real time.

For those concerned that we are not getting attention from the state, I assure you that we are. The substantial number of crews in town is the result of collaboration with the Governors Office, Congresswoman Esty, Senator McLachlan, Representative Ferguson, DEMHS and Eversource. Our shelter is the result of the contributions of BOE personnel, Dr. Alicia Roy, the Aramark crew and our volunteers. Many thanks to all. I will provide updates as they become available.

The Drop Off Center will be open tomorrow 8:00 AM TO 3:30 PM. You can bring spoiled food and brush for disposal.
